The Patricians were the ones to advise the Etruscan kings. They came up with their name Patricians it comes from the Latin word Pater which means "father" and they thought of themselves as "fathers of the state." Over time, the Patricians decided that they no longer wanted and Etruscan king, so then they rebelled and created a republic but we weren't apart of that! To the Patricians "the people" meant themselves so they created the senate, it was a group of 300 Patricians that were elected by Patricians. The senate created laws but they were never written down so the Patricians kept changing the laws to benifit themselves. The Patricians also appointed other government officials and served as judges. They created two leaders that were called consuls they shared command of the army. The republic that the Patricians came up with gave Rome more of a democratic style of government but we the Plebeians weren't allowed to participate in it, only the Patricians were. We had to obey their laws and ways of governing us, but we won't obey their laws any longer.
